smallcase opens US and global ETF portfolios to Indian investors starting at $50
Investment platform smallcase has introduced curated US stock and global exchange-traded fund portfolios for Indian investors. Fractional investing allows entry with minimal capital while professional management aims to address the information gap in overseas markets.
Investment platform smallcase launched curated portfolios of US-listed stocks and global exchange-traded funds on Friday, expanding its overseas investment options for customers based in India. This move follows the company's earlier introduction of direct US equity investing earlier this year. The new US Equity smallcases feature professionally managed portfolios built around long-term strategies, specific sectors, and investment themes. Investors can now access these funds through fractional investing, putting money into accounts starting at $50 rather than needing to buy whole shares. The platform will include tools for portfolio tracking and automatic rebalancing. Operations rely on the International Financial Services Centres Authority's Global Access Provider framework, with US broking services provided by an IFSCA-registered provider in GIFT City. Fund transfers use a payment service provider registered under the Reserve Bank of India's Liberalised Remittance Scheme. Founder and chief executive Vasanth Kamath noted that while global market access is easier, the information gap remains significantly larger than domestic markets.
