The group utilized roughly 10,000 autonomous AI agents to tackle the Navier-Stokes equations, which describe how fluids move. For ninety years, specific aspects of these problems lacked formal proof. The organization described this achievement as evidence that artificial intelligence tools are advancing rapidly. Researchers employed a new model specifically trained to recognize patterns in mathematical information starting in late August. OpenAI noted that this internal tool currently surpasses the capabilities of its publicly released models. At the end of September, the company addressed rumors regarding the process. The solution has not yet been independently verified or officially accepted by The Clay Mathematics Institute, the organization administering the Millennium Prize for unsolved mathematical problems.
