Nordic Compass studying merger of Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland stock exchanges

Industry alliance Nordic Compass is currently analyzing the consolidation of four national bourses into a single regional market while regulatory frameworks remain separate.

Reports indicate the Nordic industry alliance, known as Nordic Compass, is evaluating the potential merger of Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland's national stock exchanges. The group is also examining how to harmonize the region's regulatory frameworks. Nordic Compass was established in May and currently includes over 25 companies, foundations and organisations such as Wallenberg Investments, Nordea, SEB, Nasdaq Nordic, Ericsson, Nokia, Saab, Ørsted and the Novo Nordisk Foundation. Christian Clausen, chair of the alliance's Capital Markets Track, stated his group is analyzing various possibilities to improve capital raising opportunities across all growth stages including IPOs. He noted the work remains at an exploratory stage with no agreement reached on specific initiatives. The discussions focus on liquidity issues among the national exchanges.
