French AI firm Mistral raises valuation to €21 billion after raising €3 billion, Samsung leads financing round

French artificial intelligence company Mistral secured €3 billion in new capital during a financing round announced on Tuesday. Samsung Electronics led the investment, driving up the firm's total valuation to roughly €21 billion. The funding round was described by Mistral as the largest in European technology history. This capital provides additional fuel for research, product development, and expansion of operations beyond Europe. Mistral's current valuation is nearly double its pre-existing level from the last financing round approximately one year ago. Despite reaching this significant milestone, Mistral remains significantly smaller than American artificial intelligence giants such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The French firm is now categorized within the range of major listed French companies rather than pure startups.
