Global Bitcoin ownership is estimated to fall within a range of 4.5% to 6% of the world's population, according to on-chain analyst Willy Woo. The figures, posted on September 1, suggest approximately 370 million to 500 million people hold the cryptocurrency worldwide. India leads all nations in absolute number of holders, with estimates reaching 68 million. This group represents 4.6% of the Indian population and surpasses the United States (50 million), China (33 million), Indonesia (22 million), and Brazil (21 million). While India holds the most owners by volume, Vietnam records the highest percentage of its population owning Bitcoin at 17%. Other markets with high ownership rates include the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, the United States, Turkey, and the Philippines, each at 14% or higher. Iran is estimated at 13%, and India sits at 12% when measured by penetration rate. These numbers remain indicative rather than a verified census.
