HKEX Tech 100 adds Pony AI, WeRide, removes Alibaba and NetEase

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing is expanding its benchmark into artificial intelligence and autonomous driving by adding ten new firms while removing established tech giants.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) is revamping its Tech 100 Index on September 14 to increase exposure to artificial intelligence. The agency announced the addition of ten companies, including Pony AI and WeRide, which develop autonomous-driving technology. Other inclusions are Insilico Medicine for drug discovery, Victory Giant Technology for printed circuit boards, Beijing Haizhi Technology for enterprise AI, Mininglamp Technology for data intelligence, Shenzhen Xunce Technology for infrastructure, OneRobotics for robotics, 51World Digital Twin Technology for digital twins, and Montage Technology for semiconductors. HKEX stated this change follows a method overhaul aimed at capturing emerging technology trends across the entire AI value chain.

Conversely, the index will see fourteen constituents removed, including Alibaba Health Information Technology, Ganfeng Lithium Group, JD Health International, Bilibili, and NetEase Cloud Music. The agency issued its statement on Friday regarding these specific replacements.
