Graphite India shares spike 18.5% following GrafTech International price hike
The Indian listed graphite producer saw stock prices soar after its global parent announced a 30% minimum increase in electrode pricing effective immediately.
Shares of Graphite India jumped 18.5%, reaching Rs 870 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The surge followed a statement from GrafTech International regarding a minimum 30% price increase for its graphite electrodes, which took effect instantly for all active commercial deals. GrafTech stated this move aims to restore pricing to sustainable levels that support production investment and supply reliability. This follows a March 2026 adjustment where prices climbed from $600 to $1,200 per metric ton. Graphite India is the sole listed pure-play company in this sector, although HEG's separated graphite electrode unit remains listed under the broader holding until its own exchange listing later this month. Financial data shows Graphite India reported a 28.4% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 172 crore for the June quarter compared with Rs 134 crore previously.
