BSE exchange suffered a 16-minute outage affecting cash markets and F&O pricing

The Bombay Stock Exchange experienced a technical failure lasting from 9:42 am to 10:08 am, disrupting specific market segments. Zerodha users faced persistent issues with futures and options price updates throughout the incident.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) reported a brief outage on X that occurred between 9:42 am and 10:08 am. During this window, one partition of the cash segment and all scrips mapped to it stopped functioning, while other partitions remained operational. Normal trading operations resumed at 10:08 am according to the exchange's official post. The technical failure caused significant disruption for Zerodha traders. One of India's largest brokerages, Zerodha, notified users regarding unupdated prices and order placement issues across brokers for certain futures and options (F&O) contracts linked to the BSE. The brokerage stated it was coordinating with the exchange to fix the situation at the earliest. On its website, Zerodha posted an update confirming that the issue was resolved by 1:03 pm. However, some traders reported that price updates continued to fail even after this confirmation. A user noted that prices had not been updating for the last 15 minutes and questioned responsibility for the glitch. Another participant flagged problems with Sensex call options, stating that prices were not moving and orders could not be cancelled.
