Airbus delays A330neo deliveries after discovering a lost tool inside an aircraft
Airbox has reduced its delivery pace for the A330neo following the discovery of a discarded object in the tail section. Deliverments were zero in June and July, with only one unit delivered in August.
Airbus announced it paused monthly deliveries of the A330neo after finding a lost tool inside the horizontal stabilizer of a plane under construction. The tool was located during pre-delivery inspections. Airbus confirmed an isolated quality issue with the stabilizer and stated that crews inspected several aircraft in production, which held back shipments during the summer months. The company clarified that it has identified the cause of the problem and resumed A330 deliveries. Historical data shows zero A330 units delivered in June or July, and only one delivered in August out of a planned batch of 57 jets for that month. Data on these volumes is scheduled for release next week. The horizontal stabilizer is manufactured at Airbus facilities in Spain. A person close to the matter noted that Spanish factory strikes are unrelated to this incident. Airbus did not specify which production line or specific aircraft housed the discovered object.
