China GDP target potentially set at 6.5 percent for high-quality growth transition
Experts suggest China may aim for 6.5% GDP growth next year as the nation shifts from speed to quality, while African intra-African trade reached $206.6 billion in 2024.
China's economic planning for next year focuses on high-quality growth rather than rapid expansion. Securities Daily reported that a partner of Ruihua Certified Public Accountants expects the GDP growth target might be set at 6.5 percent. This shift reflects a broader transition away from high-speed growth models toward sustainable development priorities.
Meanwhile, Africa's economic landscape highlights strong intra-continental trade performance. The African Export-Import Bank released the Africa in Figures 2025 report, showing that intra-African trade increased by 5.4 percent in 2024. Total trading volume stood at US$206.6 billion. Continued implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area is expected to further enhance these figures. Despite this progress, challenges persist regarding market intelligence, regulatory clarity, and access to trade finance which continue to hamper business expansion across the continent.
