Trump stated that these specific attacks are creating a shortage affecting the global market. Ukraine has targeted Russia's fuel industry for months. Moscow banned diesel exports in July to address domestic scarcity during the conflict. The International Energy Agency reported that net exports from Gulf nations have declined significantly since the war on Iran began, further restricting supply through the Strait of Hormuz. Fuel costs remain a key factor as Americans prepare to vote in November midterm elections. A reporter questioned Trump regarding his discussion with Zelensky after Trump met Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump confirmed he spoke with the Ukrainian leader while at the Irish Open golf tournament. He told reporters that Mr. Zelensky must prioritize other targets and avoid damaging diesel fuel infrastructure, emphasizing the harm this causes to the world.
