UniCredit seeks partner for crypto trading and custody infrastructure
The Italian bank is looking for a technology provider to build digital asset trading, custody, and tokenized investment products. Discussions are in early stages covering stablecoin securities and brokerage capabilities.
UniCredit Bank is currently seeking a technology partner to establish infrastructure for digital asset trading, custody, and access to tokenized investment products. According to people familiar with the matter, these discussions remain in their early stages. Key areas of interest include crypto custody, brokerage capabilities, tokenized investment products, and stablecoin-based fixed-income securities. Other major banks are also exploring this technology. U.S. Bank completed a live cross-border payment using its proprietary USBDC stablecoin recently. Standard Chartered launched spot Bitcoin and Ether trading for institutional clients in the United Arab Emirates on September 3. Leumi partnered with Galaxy Digital in August to offer Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana trading, with an expected launch date of early 2027.
