$17.5 billion in crypto trading volume for Robinhood in August
Robinhood reported $17.5 billion in monthly crypto trading volume for August, with Bitstamp contributing over $10 billion.
Robinhood's monthly operating report states that crypto transaction volume reached $17.5 billion in August. This represents a 61 percent increase compared to July but remains 38 percent below the year-earlier level of $27.5 billion. The company attributed this growth to activity on its acquired exchange, Bitstamp, which generated $10.1 billion. The Robinhood app contributed an additional $7.4 billion during the same month. Year-over-year comparisons showed significant declines for both platforms. Bitstamp fell 30 percent year-over-year, while the Robinhood app dropped 46 percent compared to August 2025. Second-quarter data indicated Bitstamp was the dominant contributor, accounting for $22 billion of the company's total $40 billion crypto volume. Robinhood's revenue from crypto transactions also declined 38 percent year-over-year to $100 million in the second quarter, dropping from approximately $160 million the previous year. The report notes that growth in event contracts, options, and equities offset this decline, resulting in record quarterly earnings.
