$1 billion investment to modernize Kentucky Truck Plant paint shop
Ford Motor Co. plans to spend $1 billion on a new state-of-the-art paint facility at its Louisville manufacturing site.
On Thursday, Ford Motor Co. announced a $1 billion investment to construct a new paint shop at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. This project aims to replace the existing facility with upgraded technology designed for cleaner and more efficient paint quality. The company stated that this modernization will improve production efficiency and environmental sustainability during manufacturing operations.
The expanded capabilities will support future electric truck production, specifically scheduled for 2027 at the nearby Louisville Assembly Plant. Currently undergoing a major overhaul to prepare for these upcoming vehicles, the facility produces iconic models including the F-Series Super Duty pickups, Ford Expedition SUVs, and Lincoln Navigator SUVs.
Jim Farley, Ford's chief executive officer, emphasized that the project demonstrates confidence in Kentucky's workforce and a commitment to American manufacturing. He highlighted that the plant has been operational for over a century and is now producing vehicles every 45 seconds on the assembly line. The company views this investment as a key step in securing its role in the future of mobility and energy within the United States.
