Donald Trump has dispatched Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Russia with a new peace proposal. They are scheduled to visit Kyiv on Sunday, September 7th.

US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Moscow carrying a fresh proposal aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. President Donald Trump stated that Witkoff and Kushner are skilled negotiators who performed well in their recent mission. He indicated they were sent to see if an agreement could be reached, noting there was a good chance for it. According to air traffic control sources in the European Union, the US government plane entered Russian airspace yesterday morning departing from Finland. The aircraft is due to land soon at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport, where Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev met them upon arrival. Russia's Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that after the Moscow consultations with these American negotiators, Moscow would inform press about the talks' outcome. Witkoff and Kushner are scheduled to travel to Kyiv on Sunday, September 7th. This will mark their first visit to Ukraine since Trump returned to the White House in January 2024.
