Recycling Plastics Australia enters voluntary administration after supplier insolvency
South Australian recycling firm Recycling Plastics Australia, which had recently received a $20 million federal grant, has appointed KPMG administrators and ceased operations.
Recycling Plastics Australia (RPA), based in Kilburn, South Australia, entered voluntary administration on Monday. The company, founded in 2017 and employing approximately 60 people, was previously one of the nation's largest plastics recycling firms. Despite securing a $20 million federal government grant earlier this year to fill capacity gaps left by REDcycle, RPA has ceased operations. KPMG attorneys Tim Mableson and Ned Swifte were appointed as voluntary administrators. The administration covers Recycling Plastics Australia Pty Ltd and one related entity, Blackburn Inwood No.1 Pty Ltd. Company directors identified the recent insolvency of a major supplier as a significant factor in this decision. The first meeting of creditors is scheduled for next week.
