Nvidia acquires Hugging Face for $13 billion; founders become billionaires
French AI creators Clem Delangue, Julien Chaumond, and Thomas Wolf each hold a net worth of approximately $1.8 billion after Nvidia agreed to buy their platform for roughly $13 billion.
Nvidia has entered into an agreement to acquire Hugging Face in a transaction valued at about $13 billion. The deal is expected to close during the first half of 2027. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Clem Delangue, Julien Chaumond, and Thomas Wolf each now possess a net worth of roughly $US1.8 billion. This represents their first time being individually valued in that specific index. All three founders will remain with Hugging Face following the acquisition. Hugging Face, founded in Paris in 2016 by these same individuals, began as an artificial intelligence startup. The company has described itself as functioning like an AI library and aims to democratize access to machine learning. Jensen Huang, Nvidia's chief executive officer, announced the transaction via a blog post. He noted that Clem Delangue approached him to discuss Hugging Face's next chapter and believed Nvidia would be a suitable home for the organization. Bloomberg did not provide additional details on how much of the founders' wealth stems from this specific deal versus other assets.
