Nigeria's NGX dollar return climbs to 73.1 percent, edging out Zimbabwe and BRVM
The Nigerian Exchange Limited recorded a US dollar return of 73.1 percent in September 2026, securing its position as the continent's top performer.
Nigeria's stock market has extended its lead over African peers with a record performance in September 2026. The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) returned 73.1 percent to US dollar investors between August and September, surpassing previous figures of 69.5 percent at the end of August. This surge places the NGX above Zimbabwe's 61.6 percent return and the BRVM's 56.9 percent gain, ranking it first among the seventeen tracked African exchanges according to real-time intelligence from African Markets. Mansa Markets confirmed the trend separately, reporting a local-currency increase of 58.3 percent and a US dollar gain of 74.7 percent on data from September 3. These results mark a significant shift from historical trends where currency depreciation typically erodes foreign gains in Nigeria's largest economy. Both platforms noted that stability in the naira is currently amplifying returns for international capital.
