Eurozone GDP rises 0.6% in Q2 2026, revised up from initial forecast

Revised data shows the Eurozone economy grew by 0.6% in the second quarter of 2026, beating previous expectations and marking a shift after a flat start to the year.

The euro area expanded by 0.6 percent in the second quarter of 2026, exceeding earlier predictions based on revised statistics released on Monday. The European Statistical Office reported that gross domestic output grew between April and June of this year, surpassing a prior estimate of 0.4 percent. Earlier projections had indicated zero growth for the first three months of 2026. Ireland drove this upward revision significantly, recording growth of 10.2 percent in the quarter, well above the previously cited figure of 3.9 percent. Analysts noted that Ireland's surge appears rooted largely in accounting adjustments rather than fundamental business activity. While specific details on these corporate practices remain incomplete, the data correction highlights a stronger-than-anticipated recovery for the currency bloc during this period.
