ETM clears procedural hurdle in Greenland Kvanefjeld licensing dispute
The High Court of Greenland ruled that the company can proceed with its claims against Greenlandic executive authorities, excluding the Parliament and Self-Government from the defendants' list.
Energy Transition Minerals (ASX: ETM) cleared a legal procedural hurdle in its long-running dispute regarding the Kvanefjeld rare earths project in Greenland. The High Court of Greenland issued a decision on October 26, ruling that Energy Transition Minerals and its subsidiary, Greenland Minerals, may advance their claims against Greenlandic executive authorities. The court excluded the Greenlandic Parliament and the Self-Government of Greenland from remaining defendants. Consequently, ETM will focus its legal challenge on the Government of Greenland and other relevant executive bodies. This ruling follows the withdrawal of ETM's proceedings against the Government of Denmark earlier in the process. Daniel Mamadou, managing director of Energy Transition Minerals, stated that while the company is pleased with the procedural outcome, the matter remains in litigation. He emphasized that the project should be operational to create jobs and supply rare earths needed by Europe, noting that ongoing legal delays impose a cost on both Greenland's economy and global supply chains.
