Argentina set to export record 10 million tonnes of corn in August and September

Argentine corn exports are expected to reach a record 10 million tonnes during August and September, driven by an exceptional harvest and robust international demand. Buyers are increasingly seeking grain from South America as substitutes for supplies damaged by the ongoing war in Ukraine and European crops affected by extreme heat. The third-largest global corn exporter is concluding its 2025/26 harvest season, which the government estimates at 71.7 million tonnes, nearly 20% above the previous record set five years ago. Gustavo Idigoras, president of CIARA-CEC, stated that Argentine corn remains highly competitive in both price and volume compared to other markets. While normal export volumes for this period typically reach around 3 million tonnes, the current situation is significantly higher. Demand from North African nations, a traditional buyer of Ukrainian grain, has emerged as the primary driver for these increased shipments.
