Angola Economy grows 8.74% as Non-Oil Sector Expands 9.24%

Angola's economy reached an 8.74% annual growth rate in Q2 2026, driven primarily by a 9.24% expansion in the non-oil sector and a 5.64% rise in oil production.

Angola's National Institute of Statistics reported that the country's economy grew 8.74 percent year on year during the second quarter of 2026. This figure represents the strongest expansion since the second quarter of 2022, replacing a contraction previously seen in the fourth quarter of 2024. Data indicates the rate accelerated from 5.32 percent recorded in the first quarter. The National Institute attributed this success to strong gains within the non-oil sector combined with a rebound in oil output. The non-oil economy expanded 9.24 percent, compared to 6.22 percent in the prior period. Services and industrial activities led the way in this segment. Mining activity recorded the fastest growth at 16.46 percent, followed by information and communication services at 14.30 percent. Accommodation and food services also increased by 12.59 percent. Manufacturing output rose 12.22 percent, while financial and insurance intermediation showed improvement as well.
