CSN shares rise 25% after CEO appointment of Fabio Schvartsman

Iron and steel giant CSN shares gained 25% in September following the unexpected announcement that Fabio Schvartsman became president-executive. Bond prices also rose 2 to 3 points as investors reacted to the leadership change.

CSN stock price increased by approximately 25% during September, driven significantly by a new executive appointment at the start of the month. The company announced Fabio Schvartsman as its new president-executive on September 2, replacing Benjamin Steinbruch. Schvartsman remains on the company's board, which he will now lead, rather than stepping aside entirely as some market observers feared. On September 3 alone, the stock gained 6.69% immediately following the news. JPMorgan analysts described the transition as a deliberate effort to address long-standing concerns regarding corporate governance within the iron and steel sector. Ian Snyder from JPMorgan noted that governance has historically been a critical factor in credit analyses of CSN. Consequently, bond prices moved up 2 to 3 percentage points along the yield curve after the announcement was made.
