UAE backs BRICS finance coordination at Mumbai meetings
The UAE supported the New Development Bank's five-year strategy and championed stronger economic coordination among BRICS members during high-level financial discussions in Mumbai.
UAE officials participated in recent multilateral meetings in Mumbai to advance financial cooperation among BRICS nations. Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, led the UAE delegation to the second meeting of BRICS finance ministers and central bank governors. The group also held a special session of the New Development Bank's Board of Governors. Participants adopted a joint statement addressing priorities for emerging economies, including economic coordination, digital transformation, innovation, and growth-supporting reforms. Al Hussaini stated that the UAE views BRICS as a critical platform for coordinating positions on shared financial and economic challenges. He emphasized support for a more inclusive global system.
