$3.66 billion: Thailand FastPass approves 17 industrial projects for advanced manufacturing
Thailand's Board of Investment fast-tracked $3.66 billion in high-value projects while shifting policy to prioritize job creation over low-margin operations.
The Thailand Board of Investment cleared 17 new FastPass industrial projects totaling $3.66 billion during a recent meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas. The approval focuses heavily on advanced manufacturing, including electronics, electrical components, and precision machinery. These 15 companies from 14 entities are expected to create more than 14,000 jobs upon completion. In parallel with the project approvals, the Board of Investment is overhauling its success metrics. Officials stated they will now measure performance using realized outcomes like domestic value added, SME integration, and job creation instead of simply counting application volumes. This shift also means phasing out tax incentives for low-margin operations to better anchor high-value global supply chains within the country.
