Supermarket Iceland is opening its first store in the Falkland Islands. The new branch will be located in Stanley, the island nation's capital. This location serves approximately 3,500 people. Lord Richard Walker, the company boss, stated the retail expansion is scheduled for December. He confirmed this makes it the first United Kingdom high street brand to operate there. The retailer wholesales or franchises products to over 75 countries. Walker noted a long-term interest in the Falklands due to low competition and strong transport capabilities for frozen goods. He mentioned opening dates align with current geopolitical conditions. The company's headquarters remain in Deeside, Flintshire, Wales.
