Nine extends Premier League broadcast rights to 2034 for nearly $800 million total cost

Nine has secured a six-year contract extension with the English Premier League, keeping the league on Stan through the 2031-32 season and beyond 2034. Nine Media Group revealed the deal includes streaming rights and plans to increase free-to-air television coverage. The company does not state specific commercial details, but media observers believe the total cost across all six years will approach $800 million annually. This renewal follows Nine's acquisition of Optus' Sports Centre service last year after Optus exited sports broadcasting. In its current arrangement with the Premier League since the 2025-26 season, Nine pays approximately $60 million while Optus covered the remaining portion of the annual fee. The new agreement requires Nine to pay the full amount, which analysts note will be nearly identical to the cost Nine agreed for the NRL recently in June. Nine stated the Premier League partnership contributed 50 percent to Sport tier subscriber growth during its first two seasons.
