Micron Announces Bonuses Worth 35 to 68 Months of Pay for Taiwan Workers
Micron Technology is offering its direct labor employees in Taiwan cash and equity rewards totaling up to 68 months of pay. The compensation package represents the company's strongest payouts ever, following failed union negotiations regarding a potential strike.
Micron Technology announced on September 11 that it will distribute significant bonuses to its direct labor force in Taiwan for fiscal 2026. The rewards range from 35 to 68 months of pay for individual employees. Cash compensation alone for those who joined before August 29, 2025, totals a minimum of NT$1.7 million per year (US$53,809). On average, entry-level engineers will receive NT$3.4 million in total rewards, including NT$2.9 million in cash and the remainder in equity grants. The company stated these payouts exceed previous amounts globally, with more than 60,000 workers worldwide receiving fiscal 2026 rewards. Micron employs approximately 15,000 people in Taiwan and has invested more than NT$1.6 trillion there. This decision follows mediation efforts between the US chipmaker and unions representing around two-thirds of the local workforce. While representatives for these unions have signaled support for a strike, no agreement was reached last week during a meeting mediated by the government.
