UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced a $46 billion investment package with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, focusing heavily on digital infrastructure.

The United Arab Emirates plans to invest 40 billion euros ($46.4 billion) in Germany during this week's state visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The meeting took place at the Chancellery in Berlin with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. A central component of the deal is new data-center capacity, totaling roughly 1 gigawatt. About 10 billion euros is specifically designated for investment in Bavaria. The project spans artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and energy sectors. Officials also signed a declaration of intent to form an investment council designed to advance ties between public and private sectors. Paul Musgrave, associate professor of government at Georgetown University, noted the UAE's goal to diversify its economy beyond oil through corporate supply chain investments.
