Situational Awareness funds assets in AMD, Bloom Energy and Coreweave options

Leopold Aschenbrenner's hedge fund is active again in the options market after a massive equity liquidation earlier this summer. The firm now holds positions in Advanced Micro Devices, Bloom Energy, Coreweave, SK Hynix, and SanDisk.

Situational Awareness, led by Leopold Aschenbrenner, has resumed trading in the options market after a severe drawdown earlier in July. Sources state the fund purchased option positions across stocks including Advanced Micro Devices, Bloom Energy, and Coreweave. Activity also extended to SK Hynix and SanDisk during late last week and early this week. The firm's public equity exposure dropped significantly following an AI-related stock rout that sent assets below $10 billion from a July peak exceeding $45 billion. During the collapse, Situational Awareness sold its public holdings to Citadel, which is led by Ken Griffin, in a quick transaction to prevent total ruin. Private company stakes, such as those in Anthropic, remained untouched by this liquidation event. The extent of capital deployed in these new option trades remains unclear. Sources cannot confirm whether the fund introduced fresh capital or utilized remaining residual assets to execute these purchases.
