Nigeria's crude oil output reached 1.573 million barrels per day (bpd) in August 2026, marking the highest monthly production level recorded for the country during that year. The data from OPEC shows an increase of 35,000 bpd compared to the previous month. This growth places Nigeria among members that raised their output this month. The August figure also surpassed the nation's average production of 1.552 million bpd recorded in the second quarter of 2026. Officials attribute the rise to renewed government efforts to boost output through better security, new investments, and the rehabilitation of existing assets. Globally, OPEC crude production climbed by 346,000 bpd in August to reach 24.081 million bpd. Iraq led the global increase with a surge of 664,000 bpd, while Kuwait added 49,000 bpd and the United Arab Emirates added 54,000 bpd.
