Nigeria LPG Supply Reaches 5.3 Kt/D; International Debt Claims $28.3 Million
Nigeria's liquefied petroleum gas supply hit a five-year high in July, while its international partners owe $28.3 million for transmission services.
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority released data showing Nigeria's Liquefied Petroleum Gas market recorded its strongest recovery since months ago in July 2026. Total daily supply rose to 5.332 kilotonnes per day, up from 5.164 kilotonnes in the previous month. Domestic sources delivered 4.373 kilotonnes, representing 82.0 percent of total volume, while imports accounted for 0.958 kilotonnes or 18.0 percent. The NLNG/SEPNU consortium remained the largest contributor with 38.1 percent share. Average pump prices in Lagos fell to roughly N1,235 per kilogram from N1,776. Daily consumption was 4.4 kilotonnes against the supplied amount. In financial matters, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission reported that international customers in Togo and Benin owe Nigeria $28.33 million for ancillary transmission services rendered between 2023 and 2025. These debt figures represent payments owed by state-owned utilities Societe Nigerienne d'electricite, Societe Beninoise d'Energie Electrique, and Compagnie Energie Electrique du Togo for transferring electricity but not for the generated power itself.
