The US Mint has released the first coin featuring a sitting president, Donald Trump. The $1 gold-colored pieces are sold in rolls for $61 and bags for $154.50.
The US Mint confirmed on Thursday the release of a new dollar coin featuring President Donald Trump. Collectors can purchase these coins in rolls priced at $61 or bags priced at $154.50 through official channels. While everyday circulation is sparse, the Mint struck 250,000 special editions on July 4 with a unique mark. The coin contains no gold; it is made of 88.5% copper alloyed with zinc, manganese, and nickel. Engraver Joseph Menna designed the front based on a White House photograph showing the president facing forward between the dates 1776 and 2026. Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro created the reverse, which includes the Presidential Seal and the number 250 on the shield to mark the nation's 250th anniversary.
