Ant International launched its Agentic Mobile Protocol (AMP) on Friday, aiming to let autonomous AI agents handle purchases using electronic wallets. Ant Group open-sourced the protocol via GitHub to establish it as a potential global standard for secure digital payments. AMP integrates into Ant International's existing Alipay+ network, which links to ten major Asian digital wallets serving 1.5 billion consumer accounts for the initial rollout. The specific participants include Alipay in mainland China, AlipayHK in Hong Kong, Starryblu in Singapore, and KakaoPay or Toss in South Korea. Yang Jiang-ming, Ant International's chief innovation officer, stated this move enables agents to function as trusted actors within established mobile payment systems. On Thursday, the company also announced a partnership with Visa and Mastercard regarding a Know-Your-Agent (KYA) framework. This new effort seeks to create standardized identity verification for AI agents across card networks, digital wallets, and online marketplaces worldwide. The developments arrive as technology companies prioritize autonomous AI agents designed to execute complete commercial tasks.
