B3 to launch USD-denominated Ibovespa index on Monday, April 14

The Brazilian Exchange B3 announced a new dollar-linked version of the Ibovespa index starting next week, incorporating currency fluctuation alongside stock performance.

Brazilian Exchange B3 confirmed it will begin publishing the Ibovespa index in U.S. dollars effective Monday, April 14. This new indicator, labeled the B3 Ibovespa in US Dollars, mirrors the standard Ibovespa performance but converts its value to the American currency. Consequently, the figure now reflects movements in both the Brazilian stock market and the exchange rate. The conversion utilizes the WM/R formula for the official WMR spot rate, a benchmark calculated by WM/Reuters and refreshed daily at 4 PM London time. B3 stated it will provide closing and settlement versions of this index after each trading session. During the same announcement, B3 noted that Brazilian BDRs (domestic bonds) are set to become eligible assets for the Ibovespa index beginning in the first quarter of 2027.
